A Case of Olfactory Neuroblastoma

Abstract
Olfactory neuroblastoma is a rare neurogenic tumor of the olfactory region of the nasal cavity. Since 1924, when it was first described by Berger et al, there has been closed to 200 well documented cases through the world literature and a few cases in Korea.
By definition, the esthesioneuroepithelioma olfactif, according to Berger et al, is a malignant neoplasm of the olfactory apparatus with a histologic pattern similar to that of tumors of the sympathetic ganglia, the adrenal medulla and the retina.
Recently, electron microscopic examination of the tumor shows characteristic neuritic process containing abundant dense core neurosecretory granules, which contributes to diagnosis.
The author describe here a case of olfactory neuroblastoma with review of the literatures.
